Reiki is easily learned and practiced as self-care by anyone who is interested, regardless of the person's age or state of health. Children can learn to practice, as can the elderly and the sick. No background or special credentials are needed to receive training. You can feel things that others don't feel, see things that others don't see, hear things that others don't hear, smell things that others don't smell, and feel things that others don't.
This could make it difficult for you to be in public, where you may feel approached by an overstimulation of your senses. If you embody the healing archetype, you are likely the type of person that others may feel is too sensitive. But this sensitivity is a blessing. Anyone can do Reiki and it's easy to learn.
Some practitioners study Reiki at the massage school, while others take specialized classes. First level classes begin with learning the history of Reiki, basic hand positions and the nature of feeling energy. Students learn symbols during the second level, including remote practice. The third level helps new Reiki practitioners understand and master their own energy, and the fourth level certifies students as Reiki Masters.
