Yes, Reiki teachers claim to be able to heal from a distance, in which case Reiki is more like prayer of intercession than anything else. Of course, there is no proof that they can, in fact, do anything like that. Reiki is a Japanese technique whose followers say it can promote healing. It raises some kind of vital energy that, when it is low, makes us sick.
By placing his hands above and over the client's body, a Reiki master believes he is channeling the energy of his god to heal the client. Its presence is particularly irritating to detractors because Reiki offers demonstrable health effects without a proven cause. When Jamie introduced Reiki to the VA center 10 years ago, he quashed the objections of some colleagues who thought it was pseudoscience and out of step with the general culture of the VA, where people are inclined to suspect anything that could be described as “woo woo”. You are absolutely right that the practitioner should always release any expectation &, it seems that this cannot be affirmed enough in the world of Reiki.
Remember, to maintain balance and keep your Reiki strong, you need to receive Reiki from others, as well as give it to them. During a Reiki session, the practitioner gently places their hands on or above the body to balance their energy flow. According to the International Association of Reiki Professionals (IARP) website, Reiki doesn't cure anything. They are responsible for themselves and are responsible for eight of the nine factors of successful Reiki treatment.
Once you have one that you would like to work with, meditate each day using the distant symbol and sending Reiki as you are enlightened. I don't think you need to take a trip somewhere nice, but maybe you need to find a more experienced Reiki professional who has developed better relationship skills. Other Reiki teachers simply assume that it is just a problem of conscience, that the practitioner's Reiki is still just as powerful, and that the practitioner's consciousness has decreased. If this has been a problem for you, call a Reiki friend to suggest that you both exchange Reiki treatments regularly or, better yet, find a local Reiki support group where people meet to share Reiki treatments with each other and commit to attending regularly.
In some cases, the experience is so pronounced that they consider interrupting the practice of Reiki. Looking at these factors, I realized that Reiki practitioners have control over exactly ONE of them; they can control the Healer's Skill and nothing else.
